Despite challenging market conditions in 2009, more than 86% of MBA graduates found employment within three months of leaving INSEAD, a 1% increase from 2008. Building on the school's international brand, they went to work in over 370 companies and in 60 countries, our highest number ever. Indeed, our international reach is wider than ever before. In 2009, 10% of graduates accepted jobs in the Near / Middle East region and Africa region and, thanks to our strong presence in Asia, 22% of our MBAs took up opportunities in Asia Pacific.

In 2009, 44% of graduates went into corporate sectors - up from 40% in 2008. Several sectors, such as Consumer and Luxury Goods, Healthcare and High Tech/Telecommunications grew particularly strong. Also, for the first time, 4% of INSEAD MBA graduates took social impact positions immediately upon graduation. Employment in the consulting and finance sector remained stable with 39% and 17% of MBAs joining these sectors respectively.

Our MBA graduates have continued to benefit from the innovative and focused approach adopted by the Career Services team which was recently strengthened to meet the fresh challenges of the economic downturn. Student treks, industry networking events, panel discussions, and other events organized by Career Services on a regular basis provide an excellent opportunity for companies and participants to meet face-to-face. The strong support provided by INSEAD alumni who occupy senior managerial positions across the globe has also been invaluable in helping to meet the career objectives of the MBAs. In addition, social media and personal networks have become key elements of the job search.
