Almost a year ago, the MBA team launched the INSEAD MBA Experience blog with students, faculty and staff contributing to document life and learning at INSEAD. Recent entries have ranged from “What I Wish I Knew” (from a recent July graduate) to “Way of a Dragon” (organizing a national week) to “The Nostalgia Curve,” (a faculty posting on students’ feelings about leaving INSEAD). Simultaneously in 2010, we began tweeting to give prospective MBA candidates immediate and quick insights into the programme.
The theme of this blog and twitter campaign was recently infused into one of the MBA electives, “Advertising & Social Media Strategy,” taught by Professor Andrew Stephen, where students (in project teams) were challenged to design, create, and distribute a “viral video” to help promote the “INSEAD MBA Experience.” Similar to other electives, this was a ‘hands-on’ learning opportunity for MBAs as students had to develop marketing strategies that put the concepts from the course into practice in a real-time learning environment.
The resulting videos are wide-ranging from a fast-paced glimpse into the life of an INSEAD student to demonstrating the multi-lingual skills of the student body to funny examples of the INSEAD student mindset. At last count, there were over 75,000 views of the videos collectively on YouTube.
